What can an escape room be suitable for?

#1 Date Spot

Smaller and larger groups and families are constantly coming to us, but in recent times it has been noticed that there has been an increase in double bookings. As a game master, it is easy to spot which two-person team are those who are still at the beginning of their relationship and who are those who have been together for a longer time, who are more used to each other and know each other better. But the most interesting - and the easiest to spot, practically immediately - is always the first-date team!

On the one hand, it is honorable that two people choose us as a place to get to know each other, and on the other hand, if you think about it, it is quite an obvious choice: In the cinema, not much is revealed about the other, apart from the fact that - in the best case - you can sit in one place for 90 minutes; a conversational dinner is somewhat better, but in an active program such as the escape room, we can also gain an insight into our partner's way of thinking during joint task solutions in just 60 minutes. Not to mention that solving escape rooms, brain teasers, and logical tasks is already a point of common interest, which already means some extra bonding at the beginning of the relationship.

If we invite our prospective partner to an escape room for a first date and he nods, we can already know that we are somewhat on the same wavelength.

But, of course, there was also a counterexample to this: we know for sure that one of our many pairs teams broke up in our room, the Wizarding World - Den. The boy was not shocked that the girl stormed out: he finished the game on his own and finally successfully escaped!

#2 For team building

The development of the relationship between colleagues is essential for effective teamwork and making the workplace atmosphere pleasant. A common good experience, a task overcome together creates a community. It is no wonder that workplace teams and team-building companies are also very common here.

The keen game master can spot several types of such teams: there are those who start their arrival by introducing themselves to each other, so they are probably meeting us for the first time, they are new to the given workplace. And, of course, there are groups that have been working together for several years, have been to a couple of team building events and mostly just want to have a good time. In both cases, they are in a good place with us

#3 To overcome fears and phobias

There are players who visit us and other escape rooms to face their fears and phobias. Of course, it is not about the space, but mostly about claustrophobia and panic disorder. In such cases, it is very important that the team or the player concerned informs the game master about the existing problem in advance! In such cases, depending on the degree of the phobia, we tell and talk about what the current, problematic parts of the room might be: e.g.: narrowest places, closing doors, a point from where you can't see the exit or, in case of panic disorder, possible scary, suddenly opening/jumping things , location of panic buttons and so on.

Of course, we don't know much about the medical side of the basic idea and its justification, as well as whether this approach is recommended at all, we only see the tendency that this is also a reason why some teams visit us. What is certain is that the monitored, controlled, safe environment, the playful challenges and tasks, the panic buttons (which result in an immediate exit) and the walkie-talkies (where you can ask for help at any time) may be able to provide enough support to prevent a negative experience from trying. What adds a lot is that no one comes alone: with 3-4 friends/family members you can create quite a good atmosphere while solving the tasks and playing together.

And finally, the experience of one of our dear players, which he shared with us on Facebook:

"And a personal experience for which I've been grateful ever since: our referee offered to leave the entrance door open because of my claustrophobic daughter. The girl "only" ran away from the playing field three times during the game, but after she calmed down, she was always happy to return to play. In this way, the time spent there could remain an experience for everyone. Thank You!"
